Password creator
Weak passwords are how most people get caught out. This makes you a strong one in a second — and it does it on your own computer, so the password never travels anywhere.
Everything here happens inside your own browser. The password is never sent over the internet, never reaches us, and isn’t saved anywhere. Close the page and it’s gone.
Which type should I pick?
Easy to remember — for the handful you have to type from memory: your computer login, your email, your password manager. Four random words are far harder to guess than Summer2024! and much easier to remember.
Completely random — for everything else. You’re never going to remember these, and you shouldn’t try. Let your browser or a password manager remember them for you.
Three things that matter more than complexity
- Never use the same password twice. When one website is hacked, criminals try that email and password everywhere else. This is how most people actually get caught.
- Length beats squiggles. A long simple password is stronger than a short one with symbols jammed in.
- Turn on two-factor where it’s offered, especially email and banking. Even a stolen password is no good on its own.
