šŸ” Tech Myth Busted! "More Wi-Fi Bars = Faster Internet" — Is It True?

You've probably been there — you've got full Wi-Fi bars on your phone or laptop, but the internet feels like it's running through treacle 🐌. So what's going on?

Here's the truth about Wi-Fi signal bars:

šŸ“¶ WHAT THE BARS ACTUALLY MEAN:

• Wi-Fi bars show how strong your connection to the router is — NOT how fast your internet is

• You can have 5 full bars and still have a slow connection if your broadband package is slow, or if lots of people are online at the same time

• Distance and walls affect signal strength, but busy networks and your broadband speed are just as important

šŸ› ļø WHAT ACTUALLY HELPS YOUR SPEED:

āœ… Restart your router occasionally (once a week is fine!)

āœ… Move closer to the router for a stronger, more reliable signal

āœ… Check if neighbours or family members are streaming or downloading large files at the same time

āœ… Run a speed test at fast.com — it takes just a few seconds and shows your real speeds

āŒ WHAT DOESN'T HELP:

🚫 Turning Wi-Fi off and on again rarely fixes slow broadband

🚫 Having more devices connected doesn't automatically slow things down — but it can if they're all streaming HD video at once!

šŸ’” Grey Fusion top tip: If you're regularly getting slow speeds even with good signal, it might be time to upgrade your broadband package — or we can help you check if there's a fault on the line!
