Scammers are getting sneakier — and phone scams are one of the most common ways people in the UK lose money right now. The good news? A few simple rules can keep you safe! 📱
🔍 How to spot a scam call:
âś… Your bank, HMRC, or the police will NEVER ask for your PIN, password, or to move your money over the phone
✅ If someone pressures you to act quickly or stay on the line — hang up straight away
✅ Always call back on an official number found on the organisation's real website — not one the caller gives you
⚠️ Common scams doing the rounds in the UK right now:
🔴 "Your National Insurance number has been suspended" — this is FAKE
🔴 "HMRC owes you a tax refund, press 1 to claim it" — this is FAKE
🔴 "We've spotted fraud on your account, let us move your money to keep it safe" — this is FAKE
âś… Golden rule: if a call feels odd or rushed, hang up, wait 5 minutes, then ring the official number yourself.
