FTP, SFTP and WebDAV access to the Briefcase

November 27, 2016

FTP, SFTP and WebDAV access to the Briefcase

FTP, SFTP and WebDAV access is only available to Pro Suite and Business Standard customers, as an alternative way of accessing their Briefcase.

For Windows and Mac users we would recommend using the Livedrive client software for accessing the Briefcase but if you wish to use an alternative method, or if you are a Linux user, you can use the following information to access your Pro Suite Briefcase with any FTP, SFTP or WebDAV client software.

Server Information

FTP server address (passive mode only or PASV): ftp.livedrive.com
SFTP server address: sftp.livedrive.com
WebDAV server address: webdav.livedrive.com

Port Information

FTP: 21
SFTP: 22
WebDAV: 80 or 443

Personal Information

In all cases your login information is:
username: your personal web-address (go to Web Portal, then click on the Account Settings tab and then click on Your Details) or use the subdomain in the URL.
password: your normal Livedrive password

Example: Using SFTP or FTP from FileZilla (any OS)

Click on Open File Site Manager icon and click on New Site. Then add the following details:
1. Host: ftp.livedrive.com or sftp.livedrive.com
2. Port: leave blank
3. Protocol: SFTP or FTP
4. Logon: Normal
5. Username: personal web-address
6. Username: your Livedrive password

Click on Connect and FileZilla will connect to your account.

You will find you can browse your files in the same way that you would on your computer, and can drag and drop files between your computer and your Livedrive account.

Example: Using WebDAV from Cyberduck (Windows or Mac)

1. Click on Open Connection to bring up the new connection window.

2. Select the type of connection WebDAV (Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning for unencrypted WebDAV) or WebDAV (HTTP/SSL) for encrypted WebDAV
3. Server: webdav.livedrive.com
4. Port: 80 (Unencrypted WebDAV) or 443 (Encrypted WebDAV)
5. Username: personal web-address
6. Password: your Livedrive password

Click on Connect and Cyberduck will connect to Livedrive.

Once connected, just like with FileZilla, you can browse your folders as you would on your computer, and you can drag and drop files between your desktop and Livedrive.
