Streamline your startup
Some programs and apps are set to launch automatically whenever you boot up your PC. However, these can slow down your startup time and spoil your laptop’s performance by running in the background, even when you don’t need them.
To prevent these apps from starting automatically, right-click on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen and select Task Manager. If you only see a small window listing any open programs, click More Details at the bottom.
Now click the Startup tab and scroll through the list, looking for apps you don’t regularly use. If you spot one, click on it, then click Disable. Startup items for media players, like iTunes, can usually be disabled and you can always re-enable apps later if you find you need them.
Be careful when choosing which apps to disable – it’s important to leave anything to do with antivirus, security programs or your graphics hardware well alone.
